NetFlow Ubuntu 32-bit Installation Problem

I have just finished installing the NetFlow Analyzer demo on an Ubuntu 32-bit server for evaluation. The install went fine from the command line but when I try and run run.sh I get the output that is quoted below. I tried running as the logged in user as well as root. The app was installed as the regular user. Also of note, I changed the ports during installation. Web port is 1257 and netflow port I changed to 2055.

    Hi,

I've tried to install NetFlow Analyzer standalone applications to try it out, but after installation I keep getting invalid username/password although it's new installation.

Previously I installed OpManager, didn't have a problem, I uninstalled it and installed NetFlow Analyzer but keep getting invalid username/password. I've restarted the service it's the same.

I've tried to uninstall it and install it back again but it's the same.

I've found somewhere to check startDB.bat, but it says database already started.

Can you help me to get into the program and check how it looks?

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting us. Please try the below steps and check the issue.

    • Rename the folder data  present under  <NetFlowHome>/pgsql/
    • Navigate to <NetFlowHome>/bin/   and execute
      bash initPgsql.sh
    • Check if the data folder is created  and then try to start the product
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I can't change anything in the fields for username and password. It's completely new instalation and the fields are already pre populated. It just says with red letters invalid username and password and doesn't let me change anything.

Thank you for the suggestion. I renamed the existing data subdirectory in the pgsql diretory to data-old. I then ran the ./initPgsql.sh script and it completed successfully re-generating what I assume s the initial database. After that I went ahead and tried to do ./run.sh again but I still receive the same error message as before. I have copied my full terminal output below.

    OK. That solves it.

I tried cleaning the cache before, but didn't clean cookies.

    NFA version 9870
    Cisco 1841

NFA shows my Serial0/0/0 interface fine but either doesn't show or make available all subinterfaces or has some of them as ifindex values and when I go to the "New" interfaces tab there are like 50,000 ifindex values. This causes NFA to slow down alot.    I have the snmp persist ifindex so that doesn't change.  I ran the snmpwalk batch file using the parameters in NFA and it works fine, showing all the correct interfaces. Here's a partial output of snmp walk. In the interface I see the following available to me. I see the serial, fa0/0.3, fa0/0.4, ifindex3, ifindex7.  That's it.  Plus when I try to look at flows for some of these ifindex values I get nothing even though they match up to interfaces where I have FNF configured.

I upgraded to 9900 and still the same thing. I have tons of new interfaces (over 55,000) in the "New interfaces" tab and for instance when I monitor some interfaces like FA0/0.3 I get nothing on NFA even though looking at the flows on the router I see them.  However now this morning I can't login. I restarted the service to get to login.

Something's not going on correctly.  I'm using FNF with the predefined IPV4 and IPV6 records. Nothing custom.

I don't use "public" as my community but I've told NFA the correct name I use and snmp walk works.

    Hi ,

Thank you for writing to us. It seems that the device is sending template pakects with different Ifindex values and that is the reason you are facing the issue with Duplicate interface in NetFlow Analyzer UI. Please follow the below steps and and check on the issue.

    1) Connect to the URL " http://serverip:(port number)/netflow/jspui/runQuery.jsp "

    2) Execute the Query

    Select * from NetFlow_Router

    3) This will display the devices with Router_ID. Note the Router_ID of the router you want to Manage and execute the following query

update NetFlow_Interface set state=3 where ROUTER_ID= (router ID from the above query)

    4) Once this is done, Restart the NetFlow analyzer service.

    5) Change the flow export version in the router as version 5.

    5) Login to the NetFlow Analyzer UI navigate to License Management -> New Interface and select the device your are facing the issue and hit Delete on the right top.

    6. Restart the NetFlow Analyzer Service and check on the issue.

Netflow_router wasn't a valid table name as I got an error trying to execute the query. However I updated netflow_interface as I only have one router and all the interfaces had the same router_ID

I did all this and I don't have thousands of interfaces but it's not showing the correct interfaces. It's showing traffic from VLAN 2  (F0/0.2) when I manage (F0/0.3).  Also it shows two F0/0.4 interfaces

Does this mean I'm stuck with Netflow 5? If so then I can't do IPV6 with FNF

I just changed it back to Netflow 9 on the Cisco router and none of the garbage interfaces are being added back.  However questions

I never see F0/0.2 or F0/0.5 show up and I see two F0/0.4 interfaces.  I can delete one of them and they show back up.  Why is NFA picking up two?

For the F0/0.2 and F0/0.5 they are our management and internal traffic VLANS. Shouldn't NFA be picking those up as well even though none of that traffic goes out S0/0 from these VLANs?

What I see in NFA is when I manage F0/0.3  (our voice traffic) I see flows for F0/0.2.  It seems like NFA is mixed up.

    Hi

Thank you for your update. NetFlow Analyzer add the interfaces based on the flows received in the NetFlow Analyzer server from the device. All the valid interfaces will get added once the flows have that interfaces information.

If you have the proper interfaces getting updated now in the NetFlow Analyzer, you don't have change back to v5.

NetFlow Analyzer will only add layer 3 Vlans with the Vlan names, if you have any unrouted Vlan and configured the device to export the bridged traffic between the vlans, NetFlow Analyzer will only detect the interfaces assosciated to those unrouted  vlan and not the Vlans itself.

Please follow the below steps and do an SNMP update in the NetFlow Analyzer for the device and check if the correct names are getting updated.

    2) Execute the Query

    update NetFlow_Interface set link_name=snmp_description;

    3) Once this is done, Restart the NetFlow analyzer service and do the SNMP update again.

    No still the same:

I don't totally get this.  VLAN 3 and 5 are using private IP addresses but the router is routing from one subinterface to another. I see this traffic but it's under the wrong interface name.  This line of the traffic below from looking at the flows on the router show this and it looks correct. But I never see Fa0/0.2 show up.  The traffic shows up in NFA when I manage fa0/0.3

IPV4 DST ADDR    ipv4 src addr    intf input                 flows       bytes        pkts  ip prot

It looks like changing the SNMP parameters around in the device view get s it to update and fix things
